fair oaks farm.

I cannot believe it has been over 3 months since my last post... time is FLYING by.  We have been so overwhelmed the past two months with buying a new house, ripping it apart, starting to fix it up, packing, listing our current house, and oh yeah, preparing for the baby to arrive!  The majority of our time is spent at one of the two houses we now own, cleaning/renovating, or running to Menards/Home Depot/Lowes (or all three in one day)... It's been crazy.  I am SO excited to show our home reno though as soon as it's done.  We are really hoping to move before the baby comes, but it's getting down to the wire and I still have no kitchen at the new place, so we will see how it goes!

We had an open house this past Sunday and instead of doing our usual house stuff, we opted to take a little family trip to Fair Oaks.  Henry was excited to go to the farm and see the cows and pigs.  I was excited to have some cheese and ice cream :)  We took both bus tours to the cow and pig areas, which are so incredible and interesting to see!  The facilities they have created for observation are awesome and I have never seen so many cows and pigs in one spot in my life.  My favorite places were the birthing barn (we didn't see the live birth, but we did see the mom cleaning up her newborn calf) and the milking arena.  Watching these cows get on and off this revolving, milking turn table was wild.  Henry thought the cows smelled icky and was bummed that he couldn't see them up close, but still had a good time.  He mostly enjoyed running around and checking out all of the kid activities.  I would definitely recommend stopping for the afternoon to anyone who happens to be cruising along 65 and has some extra time!
