life lately... (according to instagram)

Well, my next blog post should be about the arrival of our new baby boy!!!  It's hard to believe this is our last weekend as a family of 2 :)

Happy Friday!

just call me miss domestic.

Before the baby arrives, I thought it would be a good idea to stock up our freezer with easy meals to throw in the crockpot.  Of course, there are ideas for crockpot freezer meals all over pinterest.  I decided to give it a try, because hey, how hard could it be?  Wrong.  These women who say it only takes like 4 hours are crazy.  I would say it took me around 6-8 hours to find recipes, compile a grocery list, go to the grocery store, make three trips carrying groceries up the stairs @ 36 weeks preggo, label ziplocs, put disgusting raw meat in ziplocs (and then proceed to disinfect the entire kitchen), chop vegetables, open cans, measure spices, try not to screw up recipes, etc etc etc.
Whew, not so easy, right?  I will be really upset if these meals turn out to be gross...  Anyways, it was a good experience, but probably not one I will be doing again any time soon.  I spent about $185 on EVERYTHING, and figure I will have about 18 dinners for Darin and I, plus left-overs for at least 2 lunches per crockpot meal for myself.

Sorry for the crappy pics.  I didn't have the energy to whip out the nikon.

Now I just need a bigger freezer...

henry's room.

As soon as I found out I was pregnant, I immediately started thinking about the nursery.  I wanted something that was bold and bright but still kept with the contemporary feel of the rest of our apartment.  Regardless of the sex, I wanted an animal themed room with a neutral palette and splashes of bright color everywhere.  I started collecting ideas on the internet and found a few key pieces I knew I would incorporate into the room.  Then I started working on my paintings and the mobile.  These were pretty big projects and took up a lot of my time (especially the mobile- sewing each of those little birds by hand was grueling!).  I started organizing the closet after we found out it was a boy and his clothes started piling up (hopefully it will stay organized).  Everything else just fell into place over time.

Now that it is all said and done, I can honestly say it is perfect in every way.  I love going into the room and just looking at each thing, imagining how different it will look when Henry is laying in his crib or playing on the floor.  We can't wait for him to be here; just a little less than a month to go!
