henry's first christmas.

I was SO excited to celebrate Henry's first Christmas.  We planned it perfectly to wake up on Christmas morning in our brand new home and spend the day opening gifts, eating and relaxing.  Henry woke up before both of us, of course, so I took him downstairs to take a few pics and get the tree lit and ready.

**Please excuse his Christmas PJ's that are supposed to be full length pants but look like shorts...apparently they shrank up in the dryer :( **

Eventually Darin made his way downstairs and we started to help Henry open his gifts.  He had some practice already and did a pretty good job tearing everything open.  He took his time, playing with all the wrapping paper and climbing on the boxes.  The biggest hit were two little tops that Darin kept spinning on the floors until Henry would smack them to a stop.  After he played with all his toys, it was nap time and that meant Darin and I could enjoy the delicious monkey bread I made.

We spent the rest of the afternoon just hanging out, napping, eating and playing.  The entire day was perfect, I can't wait to make this our new family tradition and celebrate all the years to come.

Merry Christmas :)

(my favorite picture is the self-timer family pic... it was the first of two attempts, but this one makes me laugh b/c Henry is just like "get me outta here")

snow day.

Last week we had quite a bit of snow on the ground, so Henry and I decided to head out and build a mini snowman.  We bundled up and he sat patiently while I rolled together his little friend.  He said hello and then was over it and started eating as much snow as possible.  Eventually he tried to move and was frustrated b/c his little behind was stuck.  Once he figured out how to get up, the snow buffet continued until he had his fill and his face was pink.  It was a short little outing, but the perfect opportunity for some quick pics :)

Henry's first Christmas will be on the blog next!  Cheers!

an early christmas.

My family is spending Christmas in sunny Florida and unfortunately, we are not.  We had to celebrate the holiday a little early, so we had my parents and brother up to the house to have dinner and open gifts.  Henry welcomed them in his santa hat and was immediately interested to all of the brightly colored packages they brought for him.  He did a pretty good job opening all of the gifts and really enjoyed playing with the tissue paper.  He was even excited about the clothes he received!

All of us pitched in to get my dad a new tablet, which he desperately needed.  The poor guy had been using my old (OLD) laptop from college and it was on it's last leg.  I think he was surprised!  Darin and I both received new jackets and a few tools & kitchen supplies.  Henry got a new comfy chair to watch TV in, as well as lots of books, clothes and a new truck to roll around.  After gifts, we all ate the yummy food I made and finished it with some caramel apple snickers pie (gotta love pinterest!).

Have a good trip to Florida!  We are SUPER jealous :)
