snow day.

Last week we had quite a bit of snow on the ground, so Henry and I decided to head out and build a mini snowman.  We bundled up and he sat patiently while I rolled together his little friend.  He said hello and then was over it and started eating as much snow as possible.  Eventually he tried to move and was frustrated b/c his little behind was stuck.  Once he figured out how to get up, the snow buffet continued until he had his fill and his face was pink.  It was a short little outing, but the perfect opportunity for some quick pics :)

Henry's first Christmas will be on the blog next!  Cheers!

an early christmas.

My family is spending Christmas in sunny Florida and unfortunately, we are not.  We had to celebrate the holiday a little early, so we had my parents and brother up to the house to have dinner and open gifts.  Henry welcomed them in his santa hat and was immediately interested to all of the brightly colored packages they brought for him.  He did a pretty good job opening all of the gifts and really enjoyed playing with the tissue paper.  He was even excited about the clothes he received!

All of us pitched in to get my dad a new tablet, which he desperately needed.  The poor guy had been using my old (OLD) laptop from college and it was on it's last leg.  I think he was surprised!  Darin and I both received new jackets and a few tools & kitchen supplies.  Henry got a new comfy chair to watch TV in, as well as lots of books, clothes and a new truck to roll around.  After gifts, we all ate the yummy food I made and finished it with some caramel apple snickers pie (gotta love pinterest!).

Have a good trip to Florida!  We are SUPER jealous :)

thanksgiving(s).

I was lucky enough to have Thanksgiving, Black Friday and the weekend off this year.  It was like a mini vacation and I loved every minute of it!  We headed to Lafayette for our usual two rounds of turkey with both my family and Darin's.  The food was all great and we stuffed ourselves to the brim. I didn't have the pregnancy/stretchy pants as an excuse this year, so I tried to keep myself under control...

We even did a little black friday shopping, which I swore up and down I wasn't going to do.  But a good deal is a good deal, so it was worth fighting the crowds (we went at 11am so it wasn't terrible).  I also was able to catch up with my best friends and have a lovely italian dinner Friday night.

We headed back Saturday night in time for our family/christmas card photo shoot bright and early Sunday morning.  The weekend came to an end with the decorating of our Christmas tree and putting out as many decorations as I could possibly buy/find/craft.

  I love the holiday season!

henry len- 9 months

9 months:

Stair climbing is a new hobby, which has resulted in gates to keep you off of them and safe.  Your crawling has gotten faster and you are already trying to stand up without holding onto anything.  I wouldn't be surprised if walking was not that far away.

Another hobby is pulling all of the DVD's and anything else in or on any shelf around the house onto the ground to play with.  I have had to hide quite a few things b/c I was tired of hearing them crash to the floor.  Luckily you haven't started ripping ornaments off of the Christmas tree...

We started new table foods for you and for whatever reason, you don't care for most of them.  I've never met a baby that doesn't like cheerios... except for you!  I'm sure you will love them soon enough.  You love to say "yum" after every single bite of yogurt (your absolute favorite new food) which makes us laugh very hard.  And you have learned to spread your food into your ears... and eyes... and hair... and nose...  This makes bath times much more important :)

We can't wait to celebrate your first Christmas!

henry's first snow.

The weather has been so crazy lately.  We had a light dusting of snow about a week ago and then tornado weather a few days ago.  Luckily no damage was done here, but our thoughts are with all of those back at home who had damage or are without power still.

Just like his momma, Henry wasn't big on the snow (despite the smiles below).  He kept shaking his hands to get it off.  Maybe he will enjoy it more when he gets a little bigger and can run around in it.  Or maybe not :)
